KENYAN PASSPORT INFORMATION
From the 1st of January 2007 the normal life of an ordinary Kenyan passport will be 10 years, and a fresh passport is issued thereafter.
Kenyan citizens wishing to apply for or renew their passports, travel documents or Emergency Certificates can do so at their nearest Kenya Embassy, High Commission or Consulate.
Time Span

Recommendation of Application: The application must be recommended in Section 6 by a citizen of Kenya, such as a Minister of Religion, a Medical or Legal Practitioner, an established Civil Servant or Bank Official personally acquainted with the applicant, but not by immediate relatives.

- Photographs: Two identical colour photographs taken against a plain light grey, cream or white background must be included with the application. These photographs must be taken full face without hat, and the photographs must not be mounted. Subject shild be set within the frame (not too close or too far back in the picture facing forward and looking straight into the camera
The maximum photo size is 45mm x 35mm wide. The photographs must be printed on normal thin photographic paper and must not be glazed on the reverse side.
The recommender is also required to endorse the reverse side of one copy of the photograph with the words: "I certify that this is a true likeness of the applicant Mr (Mrs. or Miss) .........................." and add his signature. .

- Children under the age of 21 years of age may not be granted passport facilities without the written consent of the legal guardian, i.e. the father, or if the father is dead, the mother, except where the applicant is married or a member of the armed forces.

- Documentary evidence must be produced to support claims to citizenship status.

- All applications must be supported by a previous passport or a birth certificate.

METHODS OF PAYMENT
The passport fee is payable in postal order or building society counter cheque payable to "Kenya High Commission".
