It is one of the 40 countries, in a total membership of 169, that were elected by the IMO Assembly during its 26th held at IMO Headquarters, London, from 23 November to 4 December 2009. On the 8th Nov 2008, The Ministry of Tourism of Kenya and the Kenya High Commission, held a successful reception in celebration of the victory of U.S. President-elect Barrack Obama.
The event took place at Cumberland Hotel in Central London and it was graced by the Minister for Tourism Hon. Najib Balala, EGH, MP.

The 2008 INVEST IN AFRICA - BUILD AFRICA conference and exhibition was held at the HOLIDAY INN, LONDON-BLOOMSBURY, CORAM STREET, LONDON, WC1N 1HT. The three day event was officialy opened by Minister of Housing, Hon. Peter S. Shitanda on Friday 22nd and run up to Sunday 24th August 2008. There were a good number of speeches and presentations from the Kenya High Commission; major financial institutions and international trade promotion bodies. (More by KLN) (view photos)
